I like open source because I know (at least theoretically) that I can go in and fix something with a PR in a codebase I don’t “own”. I've fixed like 2 things in projects I've used ever, I kinda suck as a contributor. But the indirect benefits I get from others being able to contribute to these projects is immense.

Fix, or just understand.

There is "documentation" and there is documentation.

And the real documentation is always the code.
