Linux as a whole is controlled opposition. It's the same treadmill of pushing everyone to update to slower buggier less featureful & more user hostile versions, and decrying old working programs as insecure and incompatible.

By making software insecure and buggy devs have an excuse to ship endless patches and mess with users however they want, devs incompetence and hostility is blamed on users for not updating fast enough when they made the problem in the first place.

Mozilla is controlled opposition funded by google themselves through their default search engine deal.

It's very interesting how history becomes muddled over time.

Awesome! I thought chemtrails was comedy gold, but this is really funny to see! To think you'd know so little of the world that you could convince yourself 'old' buildings (50 years ago! as in the old Eddie Izzard joke) are basically impossible to build, so they must just be discovered.

It's really incredible what you can believe in with the right mix of bad education, lack of experience in the real world, and childlike thinking about how the world hasn't changed. Reminds me of when I was 5 years old and wondering how come some people are bor. children like me, while others were born as adults, or as old people!

If nobody cared about the quality of software we'd still be using internet explorer.

Nothing about this change applies a change in quality. It's the opinion of a few vocal people that this is bad, nothing more.

I don't like this change but haven't publicly remarked about it until now. What about the vast majority of people who don't browse hn or haven't been provoked into making their opinions heard? Dismissing opinions you don't agree with as vocal minority won't help you and certainly won't help Mozilla.

Mozilla like other companies providing user-centric products must conduct focus groups to see what works and what doesn't. Relying on designers' ideas without proper validation is a recipe for disaster.
