In my opinion humanity has put in the effort to get first world countries running water, sewer systems, electricity, access to the internet - all luxuries that a lot of the world can not afford. Because we don't have to worry about these things, I believe we are obliged to spend time to problem solve and tackle the biggest challenges the world has today - and not waste it watching 200 8 second videos before -- drooling off to sleep -- (not the best way to put that)

However, I think it is important that the people who do have it easy in life to realize that, realize the luxuries that they have and not take them for granted. I want people to utilize the resources they have to do good in the world.

Exactly. Humans are incredibly capable of solving major problems if we have a desire and urge to solve them. This whole instant entertainment phenomenon is sucking the human desire to change out the window. "Is your life hard?" your phone asks. I have only anecdotal sources claiming that hemp isnt a great alternative considering the land/water usage vs the product created, compared to say bamboo. Do you know anything about that?

Bamboo grows extremely slowly and can actually emit CO2 in hotter climates during the warmer season. Hemp grows extremely quickly and sucks down CO2 like a vacuum. Hemp doesn't require harsh chemical pesticides, and it doesn't require really high irrigation. It can fully replace cotton. While bamboo can be made into clothing (I do have a bamboo PirateBay T shirt) they just don't compare too well.

Slower in what way? Just on crash? I don't mind that. But I meant for programs I _don't_ typically write source for - if Python has a way to run code before every program start up it would do what I want.

Its slower when it renders the traceback, all that reading of source and syntax highlighting takes second or two. There is a way of importing something automatically, see the sites module docs.

Canada has the Tax Free Savings Account, which can be used like a Roth IRA (long-term investing without taxes due at withdrawal) or like a regular savings account. It's an after tax account, but earnings are, as the name says, tax free regardless of type.
