We've also been using team.video - its a new free video conferencing tool for remote teams that has a built in collaborative doc feature.

My friend over at team.video works mostly from home and swears by the Roost Stand.

I just joined a team that is partially distributed and noticed that they always use video collab software (team.video) to join a call. Even when 8 people are in the same room and only 1 person is remote - everyone sits in the office with their headphones to do standup, pairing, etc. So, I'd say that the team needs to be remote friendly and actively find tools, ways to make the remote team members feel heard and more integrated with the team.

The hybrid (5 local, 2 remote) scenario happens often on our team. We’ve been trying team.video since they have built-in features for those interjection techniques you talked about.

Our team has recently been using team.video. They let you edit a doc in real-time alongside the video chat. Might be worth a shot especially during training and pairing.
