It’s interesting that the KB that patches this on Windows 11 (KB5063878) is the same one that was tied up in all the Phison SSD drama.

1) Those patches address a wide range of issues, from bug fixes to feature additions, to security fixes. This is uninteresting.

2) The issue had nothing to do with the patch. It was a coincidence.

It is interesting, that the bundling of updates has accidentally caused a problem.

a) People avoiding the update because one part causes problems

b) A security fix they probably need is only in that update

The update did not cause a problem with SSDs.

Whether or not it was real, it reinforces behaviour like [0].

And dealing with that, is a topic of conversation.

Perl is a great scripting language to stitch together high performance C binaries. Not to mention that CPAN and the built in debugger are awesome.

Write it in Perl to deploy quickly and replace pieces with optimized binaries as needed.

It’s still used for new projects in far more places than a lot of people might realize.

I watched their Just Say Yo video so much as a kid. It was so much fun.

Wonderful human being, Tommy was.

Defender Chronicles, ChainRxn, Zombie Wars 2, etc.

Maybe even all the games I purchased before they were updated to include all the IAP’s.

I am so looking forward to the possibilities.

I haven't heard or see someone mentioning Defender Chronicles for a long time now

Definitely one of my all time favorites. I keep an iPad Mini 1st Gen around just for it. Sad that the sequel no longer works once their server went down.

But anywhere to find those vanished iAPs from old days?

Looks like they finally updated the second status page to show the outage.

I thought this was about something related to the PDA's, and was sad after clicking the link that it's just more AI stuff (PaLM).

As someone who has had taxes done by EY, I'm not the least bit surprised.

They did my personal taxes one year, part of a larger corporate benefits deal. I was late and claimed I lost access to their online filing tool (stupid excuse). Instead of giving me a new account or password reset after 5 minutes the associate brought me a piece of paper ... with my password on it. Same I used for my emails, definitely one I set in the past. They stored it in plain text with plenty of people having access. I was shocked.

Maybe I'm just old at this point, but I honestly thought this was a reference to Inkscape which had it's v1.0 about a year ago, and I became very confused.

Just wanted to quickly add that I am in no way trying to steal the thunder from this news, just referencing where my brain had gone.

All that aside, this looks like an incredible language to use for some of my own projects. I have always been a fan of text based adventures, and have played MUD's off and on for at least 25 years at this point. Maybe I can put this language to good use. :)

Why didn’t the integrated circuit happen before Bob Noyce and his team released it when we had been using all the raw components in some form for a long time?

Things aren’t required to occur 100% of the time just because the raw bits are there. Sometimes these things take time.

Uh, does the author never update their “old” computer? The article makes it seem like the only time they update software packages is by doing a fresh install with a new computer.
