The modern way to use this is through Overleaf. It is just a breeze. I had to create a new Beamer presentation from old material, and in a few minutes I was able to select a good looking theme, import my material, and add pictures to the slides. No need to bother setting up a LaTeX environment or dealing with error messages directly.
