Archive.ph is not really pirated content if you consider archival of publicly available information not as pirating.
The FT publishes its articles usually without a paywall for SEO reasons and to get traction in social media. Thats why there is almost always a archived version of the article. That way the paywall is not getting circumvented in any way.
