(2006)

Kinda good article, but why write 'heavyosity' when 'gravity' was already available?

Probably not the OP's intent, but the choice of 'heaviosity' (over 'gravity', 'profundity', or whatever) invokes another surprisingly weighty movie from this same period-and-genre: Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure.

Maybe I'm just a child of the late 80s, but I didn't see either Ferris Bueller or Bill and Ted until late in my twenties, long after I'd ceased to be in the stated target audience. But both are hiding amazingly thoughtful reflections on adolescence, existence, and friendship underneath the guise of frothy 80s teen movies, and I love them for that.

(And I kind of love the OP for sending me down a moment's rabbithole of reflection by reminding me of both. Time to call some an high school friend and have a catch up!)

'heaviosity' is a perfectly cromulent word: https://youtu.be/1eTXG8FReno?t=45

Ah, that explains a lot. Thanks.

The was clearly some kind of problem with the Earth's gravitational pull in the mid 80s...

True, and this trouble with gravity was news to the scientists of the fifties.

It embiggens the meaning.

At least they didn’t write about their learnings from the film.

heavyosity seems to me to fit Ferris Bueller better than gravity.

Yeah not the best title but an insightful analysis of the film.
