Instead of scribbling on redundant pieces and relying on error correction to preserve the meaning, we can engineer the encoded values to create the picture in a code with no inherent errors
I wonder why companies don't just put their logos in the corners. Also long as the logo is dark enough to read as "black" (ie sufficiently saturated to not read as white) the position markers ought would allow for branding without sacrificing any of the informational redundancy in case of damage.
