US Postal Service Announces Tenure Plan of Postmaster General Louis DeJoy (usps.com)

Here in Canada, we have a thing called the 'Postman's Walk' and postal delivery person is paid by it. If he has zero mail for a week = a week's pay. As you may suspect, with email, invoices by email etc, the amount of delivery walking has fallen off a cliff. Not so salaries, benefits and pensions. I am unable to see these details online as they are jealously guarded by the postal unions. Unions in general guard this data, esp the actual costs of assorted benefits, as they rightly judge that the public might get outraged at these details. When I see the USPO and it's huge deficit = probably a similar outrage lurks in the USA. Once the USPO is (if??) made private - will this data emerge? I suspect it will emerge as many standing nails that need to be hammered flat?

17 years of working at USPS DeJoy has been the best I've had the experience of working for

Can you share your experience why?

we engage in less waste, we have more experienced people where they need to be, we aren't trying to make tube top side hustles anymore etc. internal systems have been innovating at a faster pace.. we no longer just hire hordes of contractors that never get the job done which was ill defined in the first place (our fault too). its just so nice to not chase all the fad ideas just to spend funding...list can go on its been night an day since I first started. thats not to say things can't be improved more..obviously we need bigger vehicles faster and we should be using fuel powered drive train if it gets us there faster, laying off incompetent workers is still a problem...but thats politics and unions for you. there are problems still in the positives above, but its been better than its ever been so i'll take it
