Great piece on the history of US electrification. What's exciting is, this is going to happen all over again, except now co-ops can buy their own solar, wind, and batteries to reduce/manage long term electrical costs (without profit for for-profit utilities) while also potentially not needing interconnects with larger grids (ISOs/TSOs).
