Ask HN: (Why) are you using AI to browse the web?

Do you still browse the web the same way you did (say 5 years ago) or you use AI to browse, summarize, etc. on websites? Is it about speed/efficiency, instant answers (gratification), or something else?

I've noticed I'm less willing to read long articles now that I can get instant summaries. I'm curious to understand if AI is saving us time or is it training us to avoid effort.

I use Firefox on a Linux workstation. I do not foresee that changing in my lifetime.

I only use LLM's to somewhat validate my theories but I give them very little weight as they can not think critically or even think for that matter. They sort the garbage they absorb from the internet and look for consensus. Even billions of people can be wrong which means LLM's can be wrong.

Yes, it's about speed/efficiency and instant answers. A couple of years ago one would usually have to skim multiple articles to find the desired information. Now, the answer is often immediately available without further searching.
