Ask HN: Should /newest show 100 posts rather than 30?

Currently it's difficult for HN submissions to get much visibility. If your link falls off /newest before getting 3 or 4 upvotes, the chance of it reaching the frontpage is almost nil, even if it's quality content.

One way to solve this problem would be to increase the number of posts shown on /newest page from 30 to 100. Few people even bother to browse new; exponentially fewer bother to browse its second page.

Right now on new, the 30th submission was posted just 37 minutes ago. That means your link only has 37 minutes to attract enough upvotes to reach the frontpage. Showing 100 submissions would increase this window to almost two hours. That way users can worry less about "when should I submit to HN?"
