"His" journal was established with an ideology in mind, not to enrich or empower Sheckman himself. He's promoting his journal because he's the only one around 'doing anything about it'. And I accept that kind of promotion. As another poster mentioned, this article doesn't mention 'open access' - but only in the last few years has a reputable 'open access' journal even been an option for biomedical researchers. And for that Sheckman and his journal is owed a fair amount. Science cannot be entirely free (as in beer). But the knowledge gleaned from it can and certainly should be free (as in speech).
