A concept of haptic feedback from holograms (slashie.org)

There was a concept from Disney a few years ago that used puffs of air (like smoke rings) to add sensation to holograms.

There was also a project at the University of Utah a couple of years ago that was using images of fingernails to detect finger forces (including direction) on any surface. http://www.cs.utah.edu/~jmh/Fingernail/

At SIGGRAPH a few years ago in New Orleans, I saw this concept demonstrated by a Japanese group: http://phys.org/news168797748.html

Any idea what material it could be made of? I can't think of any that wouldn't make this design insufferable to wear. Or is it just a concept for 2050 when we have flying cars too?
