Apparently JAX is specifically oriented around technology on top of the JVM, so the award does make sense in that context.

That said:

Considering that Red Hat, Pivotal and others are also actively pushing towards more Reactive software in enterprises, it's pretty clear that distributed, microservice-based systems is no longer just for early adopters.

It is interesting to observe how a large contingent of developers had grown quite resentful of the Unix philosophy, and now the new architectural trend of "microservices" is having them flock right back at it. Seems they might have come to their senses, if only by accident. Take this snark with a grain of salt.
